Hi, I am Ping Jiang and I have been sharing my passion for traditional Chinese folk music with the people of Melbourne since 2010. Music Lessons

Silk String Music Melbourne specialise in teaching Chinese string instruments, including Guzheng Lessons, Erhu Lessons, Pipa Lessons since 2011 in Melbourne.

VCE Guzheng Performance Training

We are Victoria’s leading Guzheng VCE training school from 2014, with extensive success preparing students for VCE music examinations. Our students consistently receive A or above for their VCE music score.

Music Exam

Accreditation from the China Nationalities Orchestra Society in Melbourne to certify students. Students who receive certification have an advantage when applying for private school scholarships. Contact us for Guzheng Exam and more.

Live Performance

We can arrange solo and group performance for all different event. We are Chinese Folk music performance specialist.

Music exam

In 2014, We started acting as an examination agent for the China Nationalities Orchestra Society in Melbourne. With music examinations held annually and certificates issued by the China Nationalities Orchestra Society in both English and Chinese, these certifications are recognised both nationally and abroad, giving an advantage to those applying for private schools and universities.

Music Concert and regular performances

We offer live music performance opportunities at our music concerts and participation in community festivals, giving students public exposure.

Music scholarship & VCE program

We have successfully helped many of our students obtain music and academic scholarships in the last 10 years. Many of our students receive a reduction of 70%-85% in school fees. We are a leading guzheng VCE music training institution, with extensive experience with preparing students for VCE music examinations; our students consistently receive a score of A or above in their VCE music result.

Music ensumble

We have junior and Senior music ensemble rehearsal on a regular bases to ensure our students can perform on stage with other instruments.

Career support

After graduating from Grade 10, suitable students wishing to pursue a career in teaching will have the opportunity to join our team. Full training will be provided.

Ping/ Guzheng teacher

She holds a Bachelor of Music education degree from Conservatorium of music of Huaibei Normal University and completed her study of Guzheng performance at the Conservatorium of music of China. Share the love of traditional folk music with the community by customizing a syllabus that maximises enjoyment and learning potential.

The Guzheng

The Guzheng is certainly known as one of the most impressive instruments in the music industry. It is capable of performing melody lines, chords, and glissando. This is because of how the instrument has been designed. Our Guzheng lessons will help you to learn how to master playing this beautiful and incredible instrument.

The Erhu

The Erhu is a Chinese two-stringed bowed musical instrument, more specifically a spike fiddle, which may also be called a Southern Fiddle, and is sometimes known in the Western world as the Chinese violin or a Chinese two-stringed fiddle.

The Pipa

The Pipa, pípá, or p’i-p’a is a traditional Chinese musical instrument, belonging to the plucked category of instruments. Sometimes called the “Chinese lute”, the instrument has a pear-shaped wooden body with a varying number of frets ranging from 12 to 31.

My daughter and I walked pass this music school on our way home and we saw a young lady playing Zither.The melody was lovely.We went in to enquire and ended up booking for a trial lesson.That was a year ago and since then,she has picked up Zither as her second musical instrument. There are many qualified teachers at the centre and they teach from Piano, Violin to Zither,Er Fu and other Chinese musical instruments. This school is nearby the Mount Waverley train station which is very convenient for us. Most importantly,her teacher is very patient and encouraging.
